Purpose of the role

Providing financial leadership and commercial support to the Managing Director, on both short term and strategic development of the business.

Undertaking a proactive leadership role within the Senior Management Team, providing both strategic insight and financial guidance across all operational disciplines.

Ensuring adherence to all Group accounting policies and latest accounting standards. Maintaining the highest level of integrity in accordance with company values at all times.

Key responsibilities

  • Ensure that the financial results of the business are accurately produced, on time and in accordance with Group accounting policies and in doing so, ensure all key performance data is presented across the company in a standard and consistent manner.
  • Ensure that strong corporate governance is exercised across the business and a strong internal control environment is in operation.
  • Support the Managing Director in monthly reviews of business performance, providing financial direction so that future business opportunities are maximised, with the best financial results delivered, both in terms of earnings and cash flow.
  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of the current business model and support the management team in efforts to evolve and improve this.
  • Provide benchmark / reference data to evaluate external business factors such as commodity prices and currency movements, and where possible develop strategies to mitigate. Ensuring effective implementation of any price increases.
  • Ensure that the annual budgets and forecasts for the business are prepared in accordance with Group requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with Group Accounts Receivable policies and manage cash collection processes in order to further improve collection performance. Provide guidance on risks to sales functions of the business.
  • Oversight of Accounts Payable ensuring payments are made in a timely manner and within forecast. Processes are in place to ensure payments are made to intended recipient.
  • Review of monthly payroll with the Managing Director.
  • Provide Business Information that informs and provides real outcomes for department heads that are transparent and enable clear decision making. Drive to continually improve the presentation of data to give greater insights.
  • Work with the Managing Director to regularly review the risk profile of the business as required to meet Group reporting and take on actions to manage risks as appropriate.
  • Manage audit requirements from Group, external providers and finance providers, ensuring as far as possible no errors are encountered.
  • Travel as required to Group, customers and suppliers.

Skills Required

• Qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA with significant post qualification commercial experience • Stature, presence, excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to liaise confidently with all levels of the business, Group, customers and suppliers. • Highest professional standards and integrity, with a requisite to detail, accuracy, and presentation. • In depth knowledge of latest financial standards. • Ability to build, develop and lead a team of Finance professionals to support in all aspects of the business.
